The short version
- Being built now, not in the app yet: a note about your week that you choose to send, opening without a connection, calendar reminders with time-zone information, and a time-zone setting.
- Next, informed by the pilot: testing with students who use screen readers.
- Never: grades, AI features, dashboards that watch students, ads or selling data.
Being built now
These are being built and tested. They aren’t in the app yet.
- A note about my week. On any day, Weekly drafts a short note about your week: what you worked on, what’s due in the next 7 days, and what won’t fit. You read it, change it and decide whether to send it to a parent, guardian or counselor. Weekly never sends it for you, and it never includes grades.
- Calendar reminders with time-zone information. Some calendar apps, like Outlook, can put a downloaded reminder at the wrong hour. Reminders will carry their time zone with them.
- Open without a connection. See your saved plan even when the Wi-Fi is down. Weekly keeps its own pages on the device, never anything from Google. Classroom updates still need a connection.
- Choose your time zone. For a device that’s set to the wrong one, so due dates and study time still line up.
Next, informed by the pilot
These are possible next steps. Feedback from the first school pilot can change their order.
- Accessibility review. Automated accessibility checks run on every screen, but they don’t catch every barrier. We plan to test Weekly with students who use screen readers and fix what they find.
Ideas we’re weighing
- A heads-up when Classroom changes, like a moved due date, even when Weekly isn’t open. Only if it can work without storing access to students’ Google accounts on a Weekly server, and without asking for more Google permissions. If it can’t, we won’t build it.
- More languages, starting with Spanish.
What Weekly won’t build
These would make Weekly worse for students, so they’re not on the list:
- Anything that reads grades.
- AI features, or sending student data to AI services.
- A dashboard where staff or parents watch what a student does. Students choose what to share.
- Ads, selling data, or analytics trackers.
Tell us what you need
Students, parents and school staff can suggest a feature or tell us what’s getting in the way at schools@getweekly.study. You can also try the demo first.
