Privacy Policy

Weekly reads your Google Classroom so it can plan your schoolwork, and keeps everything on your own device. Here’s exactly what that means.

Last updated October 19, 2026

The short version

  • Weekly reads your own classes and assignments from Google Classroom. It can’t change anything there, and never reads your grades, Gmail or Drive.
  • Everything stays in your browser on your device. We don’t have a server that stores your data, so we can’t see it.
  • No ads, no tracking, no analytics, no selling, no profiles and no AI.
  • Signing out deletes it. You can also remove Weekly’s Google access at any time.
  • Weekly is for students 13 and older.

Who we are

Weekly is made by Aether Inc. (“we”, “us”), based in California. This policy covers the Weekly website and the Weekly app. Weekly is not made by, sponsored by or affiliated with Google or your school.

Questions or requests: privacy@getweekly.study.

How Weekly works: no Weekly server

Weekly runs in your web browser. When you connect Google Classroom, your browser asks Google for your classes and assignments and keeps them in your browser’s own storage on your device. That information is never sent to us. Weekly has no account system, no database of students and no copy of your data anywhere else, so we can’t see your classes, assignments or plan.

Like any website, Weekly’s pages are delivered by a hosting provider, which receives basic technical information when a page loads. See Our hosting provider.

Weekly asks Google only for basic sign-in (openid, email) and two read-only Classroom permissions (classroom.courses.readonly and classroom.coursework.me.readonly). Google describes the second one as “course work and grades”, but Weekly asks Google to leave grades out of what it sends.

Weekly never reads your grades, your Gmail, your Google Drive files, other students’ work or your class roster. It never changes, submits or posts anything in Google Classroom, and it doesn’t collect your precise location or any health information.

How the information is used

Only what’s needed to run Weekly for you, on your device:

  • to show what’s due and plan small steps into the study time you set;
  • to notice when a teacher changes a due date, or when work is turned in or removed;
  • to draft a help message to a teacher or counselor, which you choose whether to send.

We don’t:

  • sell, rent or trade information;
  • show ads or use information for targeted advertising;
  • build profiles of students;
  • share information with data brokers;
  • use it to train AI models;
  • use analytics or tracking cookies.

Weekly has no ads and no analytics at all.

Our promises about student information

Weekly is built for students’ school use, and we follow the student-privacy laws that apply to school apps. For every student, we:

  • never use student information for targeted advertising, on Weekly or anywhere else;
  • never build a profile of a student, except what the app needs in your own browser to organize your work;
  • never sell, rent or trade student information;
  • never share it, except with our hosting provider (technical logs only, used only to run Weekly), with Google when you choose to connect your account, or when the law requires it;
  • use reasonable security measures that fit what we handle (see Security);
  • answer deletion requests from students, parents and schools within 30 days (see Deleting your information);
  • give prominent notice in the app at least 30 days before any material change to how we handle student information, and never use it in a materially different way without consent.

Teens

We know most people using Weekly are under 18, so we design for that:

  • we process only what’s strictly necessary to provide the features you use, keep Weekly working and secure, or follow the law;
  • we don’t sell your information, use it for targeted advertising or use it to profile you;
  • we don’t collect your precise location;
  • we don’t build features meant to keep you in the app longer than you need, such as streaks, rewards, endless feeds or nagging notifications;
  • there’s no messaging between users and nothing you add is shown to other people;
  • we don’t advertise or market any products to you.

Information from Google

Weekly’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Weekly does not use information received from Google Workspace APIs, including Google Classroom, to develop, improve or train generalized or non-personalized AI or machine-learning models.

In practice: Google data is used only to show you your own schoolwork plan in your browser. It isn’t transferred to us or anyone else, isn’t used for advertising, and no person at Weekly reads it.

If you use a school Google account, your school’s administrator controls whether Weekly can reach your Classroom data and can turn that off. You can also remove Weekly’s access yourself at any time at myaccount.google.com/connections.

Things you choose to send

Some buttons hand information to another service you already use. Weekly only prepares it; you decide whether to send it:

  • Email a teacher or counselor: opens a draft in your own email app. What you send is handled by your email provider.
  • Private comment in Classroom: copies your message so you can paste it into Google Classroom yourself.
  • Reminders: open Google Calendar with the event filled in, or download a calendar file. If you save it, Google or your calendar app keeps it.

Browser storage, cookies and tracking

Weekly saves your plan in your browser’s local storage, and keeps short-lived settings (like an open tour) in session storage. These are needed for the app to work. Weekly doesn’t use advertising or analytics cookies.

Weekly doesn’t track you over time or across other websites, and no third party collects personal information about your online activity through Weekly. The one outside script is Google’s sign-in. It loads only in the app, once you’ve said you’re 13 or older or have signed in before, so Google’s window can open the moment you tap. It’s covered by Google’s Privacy Policy.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control: because Weekly doesn’t track you, every visit is handled the same way whether or not your browser sends one of these signals.

How long it’s kept, and deleting your information

In your browser: your Weekly data stays until you delete it. You can:

  • use Settings → Your data → Delete my data from this browser, or Sign out on this device, which also deletes it;
  • clear your browser’s site data for Weekly;
  • remove Weekly’s Google access at myaccount.google.com/connections.

With our host: request logs are kept only for a short time under Vercel’s retention policy, then deleted.

Emails you send us: we keep them only as long as needed to answer, and delete them within 12 months unless the law requires us to keep them longer.

Deletion requests: students, parents, guardians and schools can write to privacy@getweekly.study. Within 30 days we’ll delete anything we hold and confirm it in writing. That’s at most your email to us; host logs expire on their own. We’ll also explain how to remove the data on the device and Weekly’s Google access.

On a shared or school computer, sign out when you’re done. Anyone using the same browser profile could otherwise open your plan.

Our service providers

Weekly’s pages are served by Vercel Inc., which acts as our service provider. When your browser loads a page, Vercel receives standard request information: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. Vercel uses it only to deliver the site and keep it secure. It never includes your classes, assignments or plan, which stay in your browser. We don’t use it to identify, track or profile anyone.

Emails you send to our addresses, such as the privacy address below, pass through ImprovMX, an email-forwarding service, to our mailbox at Google. They carry only what you choose to write to us. Weekly itself never sends your information by email.

Children under 13

Weekly is for students 13 and older. Before Google sign-in it asks for your birth month and year, keeps only whether you’re 13 or older (an under-13 answer is remembered for six months, without the birth date), and doesn’t offer sign-in to anyone younger. It isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child under 13 has used Weekly, write to privacy@getweekly.study. Because Weekly keeps information only on the device, we’ll explain how to remove it there and delete anything we hold.

For schools and districts

A student can use Weekly on their own with their school Google account, where the school allows it. Weekly never receives student records from a school. It only shows a student their own Classroom information, in their own browser.

Approving Weekly in Google Workspace for Education

For students designated under 18, Google requires an administrator to configure third-party apps before students can connect them. To allow Weekly:

  1. In the Google Admin console, go to Security → Access and data control → API controls → Manage third-party app access, choose Configure new app and search for Weekly by its OAuth client ID: 996827372984-3jq30jrsk6dvkuus43r553ujc0ur2bso.apps.googleusercontent.com. Set access to Trusted, or to Specific Google data with Classroom.
  2. In Apps → Google Workspace → Classroom → Data access, make sure users can authorize apps to access their Google Classroom data.

Weekly requests only the four permissions listed in What Weekly reads, all read-only, and never asks for roster, grade-writing, Gmail or Drive access.

Agreements

If a school or district wants to use Weekly with its students, we’ll sign a student data privacy agreement that meets its state’s law, such as the National Data Privacy Agreement used by Student Data Privacy Consortium alliances. In California, that’s the California Student Data Privacy Agreement offered through the California Student Privacy Alliance. That agreement controls over this policy for that school’s students. We’ll support the school’s obligations under FERPA and state student-privacy laws, act under the school’s direction, and provide a list of the data elements Weekly uses and our service providers (Vercel for hosting, ImprovMX for forwarding email sent to us). If a school asks us to delete student information, we’ll respond within 30 days.

Security

Weekly is served only over HTTPS. It uses a strict content security policy that lets the app talk only to Google, and loads no third-party analytics or ad code. It keeps Google’s sign-in token in memory rather than storage, and asks only for read-only access. Because your data lives on your device, keeping that device and browser profile secure matters too.

If we learn of a security problem that may have exposed students’ information, we’ll fix it and notify affected users and schools without unreasonable delay. We’ll tell an affected school within 72 hours of confirming the problem, or sooner if our agreement with that school says so, and give any other notice the law requires. Report a problem to privacy@getweekly.study.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information a company has about you, get a copy, correct it, delete it, and opt out of its sale, its use for targeted advertising, or profiling. With Weekly:

  • everything Weekly keeps about you is shown in the app and stored on your device, where you can see, change or delete it;
  • to correct schoolwork information, change it in Google Classroom or ask your teacher, and Weekly picks it up on the next refresh;
  • we hold no copy of your schoolwork, so there’s nothing on our side to return beyond short-lived host logs and any email you sent us;
  • we never sell or share personal information, or use it for targeted advertising or profiling, so there’s nothing to opt out of.

You can still contact us at privacy@getweekly.study with any request or question, and we’ll answer within 30 days. We won’t treat you differently for asking. A parent or guardian, or an authorized agent, may ask on a student’s behalf.

State-specific information

The promises above apply everywhere. Some states ask for specific statements, collected here.

California

This policy is meant to meet the California Online Privacy Protection Act. The categories of personal information involved, and who receives them, are in What Weekly reads and Our hosting provider. You can review and change your information in the app. Our responses to Do Not Track signals and other parties’ tracking are in Browser storage, cookies and tracking. How we announce changes is in Changes to this policy, and the effective date is at the top.

Weekly follows California’s Student Online Personal Information Protection Act (see Our promises about student information). We don’t sell or share personal information, as those words are used in the California Consumer Privacy Act. We don’t disclose personal information to third parties for their direct marketing (Civil Code § 1798.83).

If you’re under 18: anything you add to Weekly is visible only to you, on your device, and you can remove it at any time by deleting it or signing out. Removing it from Weekly doesn’t remove copies you sent elsewhere, such as a message you emailed.

Arkansas

For Arkansas teens and parents: Weekly is designed for students 13 and up. The information involved and why is described above. We don’t use it for targeted advertising, and we disclose it only as described above. Your plan stays on your device, where you can view, change or delete it at any time. You can also ask us at privacy@getweekly.study to see, correct or delete anything we hold.

Colorado, Connecticut, Montana and other states with rules for minors

We treat everyone using Weekly as a minor for these rules. We don’t use minors’ personal data for targeted advertising, sale or profiling. We process only what’s needed, collect no precise location and use no design features meant to extend use (see Teens). We keep a written data protection assessment for Weekly. Students and parents, not only schools, can ask us to delete information.

Delaware

Weekly doesn’t market or advertise any products to minors, including products minors aren’t allowed to buy.

Nevada

Weekly doesn’t collect or keep your name, email address or other covered information on our systems; it stays in your browser. We don’t sell covered information. You may still send a request not to sell to privacy@getweekly.study, and we’ll confirm it.

New York

Because Weekly is designed for students under 18, we treat every New York user as a minor under the New York Child Data Protection Act. We process personal data only when strictly necessary to provide the features you ask for, keep Weekly secure and working, or comply with the law. We don’t sell personal data, and we don’t let advertising or analytics companies collect data through Weekly. Before a school or district adopts Weekly, we’ll sign an agreement that includes New York Education Law § 2-d terms.

Rhode Island

Aether Inc. is the controller of the limited personal data described here. Contact: privacy@getweekly.study. We have not sold and do not sell personal data.

Texas

We don’t sell personal data, including sensitive data. If a Texas school district asks us to delete a student’s information, we’ll respond and confirm within 30 days, well within the 60 days the Texas Education Code allows.

Washington, Vermont and other states with health-data laws

Weekly doesn’t collect consumer health data. Emails you paste in stay on your device and are never sent to us.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top and say what changed in the app. For a material change to how we handle student information, we’ll give prominent notice in the app at least 30 days ahead. We won’t start collecting new kinds of information, or use information in a new way, without telling you first and, where the law requires it, asking for consent.
